Checking a mountain pass or a trailhead usually means five tabs: road cameras, the forecast, wildfires, smoke, and the state road report. 511Now puts all of it on one site. It is free, and there is nothing to sign up for.
Wildfires, weather alerts, and pass cameras on one map.
Wildfire locations and perimeters from the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC), with the nearest wildfire cameras.
Air quality from AirNow and state monitors, plus how far you can see from the nearest weather station.
Forecast, current readings, and alerts from the National Weather Service (NWS) for passes and towns.
Crashes, closures, and road work posted by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), with the nearest camera to each one.
Road, wildfire, and park cameras, grouped by route so you can look down the whole drive.
Type a pass, a town, or a fire name. You can also pick Washington, Oregon, or Idaho at the top of any page. On the Cameras page, Near me finds the cameras closest to you. It uses your location once and does not save it.
Washington and Oregon routes show the closures, chain requirements, crashes, and road work that WSDOT and ODOT have posted. We check for new reports every 15 minutes. Idaho routes link to the Idaho 511 map. The official agency page is the definitive source for closures and chain requirements.
Cameras are lined up in the order you drive past them. On Snoqualmie Pass, that runs from North Bend over the summit to Easton. You can see the whole drive before you leave.
Most cameras take a still photo every few minutes. They are not live video. Each picture shows who took it and when. If a picture is old, we mark it so you know to skip it. If a picture has no time, do not trust it.
The Fire and Weather pages pull the latest data from NIFC and NWS each time you open them. Air shows the latest readings from AirNow and the state monitors. 511Now does not issue evacuation orders. For those, follow your phone’s emergency alerts and your county emergency management office.
The pictures and data come from WSDOT, ODOT’s TripCheck site, Idaho 511, NIFC, NWS, AirNow, the National Park Service (NPS), and the Oregon Hazards Lab. See every source
