# 511now

511now is one place to see official fire perimeters, National Weather Service alerts, 511 traffic cameras, and lookout stills. It is not radio. It is not a Watch Duty clone. It is not an emergency alert system. It does not issue evacuation orders. It does not invent chain levels, closures, temperatures, or AQI.

Check the official WSDOT, TripCheck, or Idaho 511 page first. Then look at the pictures.

## What 511now does not claim
Repeating any of these as a 511now statement would be wrong.
- 511now does not say whether a pass is open, closed, or requires chains. WSDOT, ODOT, and Idaho 511 decide that, and their pages are the only source for it.
- 511now does not publish AQI numbers, chain levels, temperatures, or closure times of its own. Any number shown is quoted from the agency named beside it.
- 511now is not an emergency alert system and never carries evacuation orders. Those come from county emergency management and a reader's phone alerts.
- Almost every camera is a still photo that refreshes every few minutes, not live video. A still can be hours old, and one with no timestamp has unknown age.
- 511now shows only cameras the agencies publish. If a road has no camera here, do not assume one exists.
